An existing company in the Hartford City Industrial Park will be applying for a $60,000 grant in order to purchase new equipment and as a result create at least a half dozen new jobs.

Petoskey Plastics, Inc., 1100 W. Grant St., Hartford City, will work alongside a grant administrator hired by the Hartford City Board of Public Works and Safety to seek the Community Economic Development Block Grant (CEDBG) through Indiana’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).

“We have been given permission from the state to apply for this grant,” said Rob Cleveland, who is the executive director of the Blackford County Economic Development Corp. (BCEDC). He added that the grant program has been presented to several of the other existing companies in the industrial park.

“Petoskey Plastics has decided to apply for it,” noted Cleveland.
According to Cleveland, the particular program is designed specifically for job creation.

“Companies who are awarded these grants get up to $10,000 for each job created,” explained Cleveland.

Potentially, Petoskey Plastics could be looking to add six jobs.

“They are looking to add between six to eight jobs in our community,” said Cleveland.
